Status page

A public page used to communicate service health, incidents, and recovery progress.

A status page is a public web page where a service provider reports whether its systems are healthy, degraded, or down. It usually includes incident notices, affected components, and recovery updates. In cyber security, status pages matter because they help separate a real outage from a local connectivity issue, account problem, or software bug.

Defenders and incident responders use status pages as a first check during service disruption, but they should not treat them as complete evidence. Updates may lag behind the actual outage, and a “healthy” page does not always mean every feature is working. Attackers can also target the availability of the status page itself, or abuse look-alike pages for phishing and fake incident notices. A well-run status page improves transparency, supports triage, and helps customers decide whether to wait, fail over, or switch to a backup service.
