Spectrum compliance means a radio device follows the legal operating rules for the band it uses: allowed frequencies, transmit power, channel width, duty cycle, and any certification or regional limits. In practice, a LoRa node or Wi-Fi radio may work technically, but still be illegal if it transmits outside its permitted range or with the wrong settings.
In cyber security, spectrum compliance matters because wireless systems depend on shared airspace. Noncompliant gear can interfere with other services, trigger enforcement, or get a deployment blocked. Defenders use region-aware firmware, device certification, and deployment guidance to keep networks legal and stable. Attackers may also exploit illegal or misconfigured transmitters to jam, spoof, or degrade communications, making compliance part of resilience as well as law.
