SIVE is Spain’s coastal surveillance network for detecting, tracking, and coordinating responses to maritime activity along sensitive border areas. It typically combines sensors, radar, cameras, communications links, and operator workstations to build a shared operating picture for authorities.
In cyber security, SIVE matters because the value of the system depends on data integrity and availability, not just on the hardware itself. If sensor feeds are delayed, spoofed, tampered with, or blocked, operators may miss a vessel, misclassify a target, or lose response time. Defenders therefore focus on segmentation, authenticated links, strong access control, logging, and failover procedures so that one compromised component does not corrupt the whole picture. In real operations, SIVE-like systems are part of a larger security stack with identity checks and inter-agency coordination, which makes them attractive targets for disruption even when no malware is present.
