SGSI

the information security management system used to organize policies, controls, and oversight.

SGSI is the Information Security Management System: the framework an organization uses to define security policies, assign responsibilities, select controls, and review whether those controls still work. In many environments it is the management layer behind ISO/IEC 27001, turning security from isolated tools into a structured, risk-based program.

It matters because cyber security is not only about blocking malware or theft; it is also about making sure protections are consistent, auditable, and aligned with business risk. A strong SGSI helps teams manage access control, incident response, backup strategy, supplier risk, and continuity planning. In real defenses, it drives risk assessments and control reviews; in real attacks, gaps in the SGSI often show up as weak governance, missing oversight, or poor recovery planning. That is why availability risks such as power loss or extreme weather belong in SGSI planning too.
