Security Command Center (SCC) is Google Cloud’s native security management service. It collects and correlates findings about misconfigurations, vulnerabilities, and threats across GCP resources, giving security teams a central place to inspect risk instead of checking each service separately.
SCC matters because many cloud attacks start with simple mistakes: overly broad IAM roles, exposed storage, forgotten service accounts, or unpatched workloads. Defenders use SCC to spot these issues early, prioritize remediation, and track suspicious activity. In practice, it often serves as the baseline visibility layer before a team adds specialized posture, detection, or CNAPP tooling.
