Scam center

An operation site used to run fraud campaigns, often with coordinated roles and communications.

A scam center is a staffed operation site used to run large-scale fraud campaigns. Rather than a lone attacker, it usually involves coordinated roles: operators who contact victims, supervisors who script the pitches, money handlers who move proceeds, and technicians who maintain phones, messaging accounts, devices, and network access. In cyber security, the term matters because it describes the human and technical hub behind many online fraud schemes.

Scam centers appear in attacks such as impersonation scams, fake investment offers, account takeovers, and phishing campaigns that depend on fast, repeated outreach. Defenders look for the infrastructure around the fraud: shared devices, VoIP or messaging systems, payment flows, and linked accounts. Disrupting a scam center can be more effective than blocking one account, because it targets the operational node that coordinates the wider campaign. Law enforcement and security teams also use the term when discussing cross-border investigations, where evidence and suspects may be spread across multiple jurisdictions.
