A sandbox edit is a test change made in a non-public practice area before any live content is altered. On collaborative platforms, sandboxes let editors, bots, and AI agents check formatting, links, templates, and workflow behavior without affecting the real page.
In cyber security, sandbox edits matter because they separate safe testing from production risk. Approved automation should usually be tested in a sandbox first so defenders can spot bad logic, excessive request rates, or unintended writes before they reach public systems. Attackers may also use sandbox-like areas to probe protections, refine spam or edit patterns, or disguise early-stage testing as harmless activity. Good governance includes access controls, review, and logging so test changes can be distinguished from unauthorized live edits.
