Runtime data classification

Analysis of data at the moment it is accessed or moved, so policies can be applied before it is reused.

Runtime data classification is the analysis of data at the moment it is accessed, copied, or moved, so security policy can be applied before the data is reused. Instead of relying only on static labels stored in a repository, the system inspects content, metadata, and context in real time.

This matters because many attacks and accidental leaks happen after data leaves its original store. In enterprise AI, for example, a user may be allowed to open a document, but a policy engine can still block sensitive details from reaching a chatbot, copilot, or agent. Defenders use runtime classification to enforce least privilege, redact secrets, stop policy violations, and log decisions for audit. It is especially useful in connectors to cloud apps, where data can be reused quickly and traditional access control alone may not be enough.
