Rollback option

A way to revert a published change if a listing needs correction.

A rollback option is a control that lets an operator revert a published change to a previous, known-good state. In practice, it may restore an earlier catalog entry, configuration file, access rule, or software version after a mistake is found.

In cyber security, rollback is important because bad changes can create exposure as quickly as malicious ones. If an attacker tampers with metadata, a patch breaks a service, or a wrong permission is pushed to production, a fast rollback can limit damage and reduce downtime. Defenders use rollback in release pipelines, incident response, and backup recovery, but it must be handled carefully: reverting to an old state can also bring back a vulnerability if the baseline is not verified. Good change control, versioning, and audit logs make rollback safer and more reliable.
