Renewable supply means electricity provision linked to energy generated from renewable sources such as wind, solar, or hydro. In retail energy markets, the term usually refers to a contract or service claim that a customer’s consumption is matched, physically or through certificates and accounting rules, with renewable generation.
In cyber security, renewable supply matters because the promise depends on trusted data: meter readings, billing records, certificate registries, and contract systems. If those systems are tampered with, a provider can misstate the source of electricity, bill customers incorrectly, or break compliance reporting. Defenders therefore protect identity, access control, audit logs, and data integrity across the energy platform. The term appears in real attacks and defenses as part of broader business logic abuse, where criminals or insiders target records instead of power lines, and as a control point for verifying that green-energy claims are accurate.
