Radio interference

Unwanted emissions that can mimic or distort a real transmission.

Radio interference is unwanted electromagnetic energy that overlaps with a legitimate wireless signal and makes it harder to receive, decode, or trust. It can be accidental, such as from nearby electronics, or intentional, such as deliberate jamming. In practice, interference may reduce range, corrupt packets, trigger retransmissions, or create a false pattern that looks like a real transmission.

In cyber security, interference matters because many systems rely on radio links: Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, cellular, GPS, RFID, and IoT sensors. Attackers can exploit this by jamming a channel, masking a device, or causing a denial of service. Defenders look for interference with spectrum analysis, signal-strength baselines, channel hopping, shielding, and careful validation of suspicious wireless data before treating it as evidence.
