Quarterly revenue

Income reported for a three-month period, useful for checking whether growth is real or temporary.

Quarterly revenue is the income a company reports for a three-month accounting period. It is a basic measure of business performance because it shows how much money was earned during a specific quarter, making it easier to compare growth over time and separate steady expansion from one-time spikes.

In cyber security, quarterly revenue matters because attackers often use financial reporting as a signal. Well-publicized earnings can attract phishing, invoice fraud, and executive impersonation attempts that rely on urgency around reporting deadlines, payments, or investor expectations. Threat actors also watch revenue trends to choose high-value targets and to tailor social engineering with realistic claims about contracts, growth, or cash flow. Defenders use quarterly revenue as part of business-risk analysis: if revenue is strong but systems are leaking data, or if reported growth does not match customer activity, logs, payment records, and cloud usage can reveal fraud, compromise, or manipulation.
