PureRAT

A remote access trojan associated with hands-on control of infected systems and follow-on malicious activity.

PureRAT is a remote access trojan, or RAT, used to give an attacker interactive control over an infected Windows system. Unlike simple malware that only encrypts files or steals one set of credentials, a RAT is built for hands-on operation: running commands, moving files, launching additional payloads, and maintaining access after the first compromise.

In real attacks, PureRAT often appears as a second-stage payload delivered after a lure file, shortcut abuse, or other initial access method. Once installed, it can help operators collect browser credentials, browse local data, and prepare the device for follow-on activity such as lateral movement or data theft. Defenders should watch for unusual process launches, suspicious persistence mechanisms, and unexpected outbound connections from endpoints, because a RAT can turn one successful click into broad account and network compromise.
