Private Cloud Compute (PCC) is Apple’s server-side infrastructure for handling Apple Intelligence requests that are too complex to process fully on device. It is designed to keep the cloud side tightly controlled, with limited persistence, reduced access, and a narrow trust boundary between the user device and Apple’s backend.
PCC matters because cloud AI systems often receive sensitive prompts, attachments, or derived data. If a privileged component mishandles input such as file paths, attackers may be able to reach unintended files or functions. Defenders look for strict validation, least privilege, isolation, and rapid patching, because a small flaw in a privacy-focused backend can weaken the whole security model.
