Polygon blockchain

An EVM-compatible blockchain network where Ethereum-style contracts can run.

Polygon is an EVM-compatible blockchain network, which means Ethereum-style smart contracts can run on it with similar logic and tooling. Developers use it for decentralized applications because it supports public, programmable contracts that can store data, return values, and interact with other services through blockchain reads.

In cyber security, Polygon matters because attackers can abuse public contracts as a resilient lookup layer. Instead of hardcoding a command-and-control server or payload location in a web page, a malicious script can query a contract for a pointer to the next stage of infrastructure. That makes takedown harder, because the resolver is distributed and publicly readable, while the actual delivery host can change. Defenders should watch for suspicious browser requests to Polygon or other RPC endpoints, injected JavaScript, and user-driven execution chains that follow fake verification prompts. Polygon itself is not malicious; it is the public, persistent nature of the platform that can be exploited for hiding control data.
