Phishing link

A deceptive URL used to trick a user into opening a harmful page or triggering an unwanted action.

A phishing link is a deceptive URL crafted to make a user click it. It may lead to a fake login page, a malware download, a malicious redirect, or a page that triggers an action without the user fully understanding it. The link often looks trustworthy by using familiar brand names, shorteners, typosquatting, or other tricks that hide the real destination.

In cyber security, phishing links matter because they are a common starting point for account takeover, session theft, and malware delivery. In modern attacks, a malicious link can do more than steal credentials: it can open a prefilled form, abuse a trusted session, or push a user into approving an unsafe workflow. Defenders reduce the risk with email filtering, URL rewriting, browser isolation, link scanning, MFA, and user training. Careful review of destinations and suspicious prompts is still important, especially in enterprise tools where one click may trigger powerful actions.
