Panoramic photography is a photographic format designed to capture a wide field of view, often by using a specially designed camera or by stitching multiple images together. The goal is to show more of a scene than a normal frame can hold, making it useful for landscapes, interiors, site surveys, and documentation.
In cyber security, panoramic images matter because they can reveal context that a close crop would miss: whiteboards, badge readers, monitors, network racks, entry points, or other sensitive details in the background. Defenders use wide-view imagery in asset inventory, incident reporting, physical security reviews, and remote inspections. Attackers can also abuse panoramic or stitched images during reconnaissance, especially if leaked photos expose room layouts or operational information. Like any visual record, panoramic photography should be treated as data that may need redaction, access control, and metadata review.
