Navier-Stokes equations

Partial differential equations that describe the motion of incompressible viscous fluids.

The Navier-Stokes equations are partial differential equations that describe how incompressible viscous fluids move. They are used to model velocity, pressure, and forces in flows such as air, water, and coolant. In mathematics, they are famous because some basic questions about their behavior in three dimensions are still deeply studied, especially whether smooth solutions can always remain smooth.

In cyber security, the term matters because fluid models often feed engineering and simulation tools used in aircraft, servers, drones, and industrial systems. Attackers can exploit overtrust in AI-generated or simulation-based results by presenting convincing but unverified claims, while defenders need reproducible computation, peer review, and formal checks before acting on them. When a model is wrong, decisions about cooling, sensor placement, aerosol spread, or physical resilience can be misled. The key lesson is that mathematical output is not security evidence until it is verified.
