Multilingual content is material produced or adapted in more than one language so it can reach different audiences. In cyber security, the term matters because language expansion is a force multiplier: the same message, lure, or instruction can be reused across regions, communities, and platforms with minimal effort.
Attackers use multilingual content in phishing emails, scam pages, malware lures, propaganda, and social-engineering campaigns to increase trust and widen reach. Automated translation and generative AI can make this easier by rapidly rewriting text, changing tone, or tailoring messages to local slang. Defenders must therefore look beyond one-language keyword filters and review user reports, metadata, visual templates, and cross-language similarity. Good detection also includes native-speaker review and models that compare intent rather than exact wording.
