Multi-tenant platform

A shared system where separate groups use the same infrastructure with enforced isolation.

A multi-tenant platform is a shared computing environment where multiple teams, customers, or projects use the same physical or virtual infrastructure while remaining logically separated. The isolation is enforced by controls such as identity and access management, network segmentation, resource quotas, encryption, and workload boundaries.

In cyber security, multi-tenancy matters because it concentrates value and risk. A weakness in tenant isolation can allow data leakage, cross-tenant access, noisy-neighbor denial of service, or privilege escalation through a shared control plane. Defenders therefore focus on strong authentication, per-tenant logging, patch management, and segmentation of storage, compute, and administration paths. In AI and cloud services, multi-tenancy lets organizations share expensive GPU or storage systems efficiently, but it also means every tenant must trust the platform’s isolation to protect sensitive data and workloads.
