Monorate is a pricing model that charges one unit price for usage across a plan, instead of varying the price by time, tier, or usage band. In billing systems, this makes costs easier to predict and simpler to audit because every unit is counted the same way.
In cyber security, monorate matters because pricing shapes attacker economics and defender controls. A predictable per-unit cost can influence abuse of cloud services, APIs, SMS gateways, or scraping targets, where automated activity may drive unexpected bills. Defenders watch for unusual volume, apply rate limiting and quotas, and compare usage patterns against expected baseline costs. Monorate is not a security control by itself, but it is part of the business logic that attackers may try to exploit and that defenders must protect.
