Microsoft 365 Roadmap

Microsoft’s public planning tracker for in-development product features and rollout timing.

Microsoft 365 Roadmap is Microsoft’s public planning tracker for features that are in development, being tested, or scheduled for rollout across Microsoft 365 products. Each item usually has an ID, a short description, and an estimated release window. For security teams, the roadmap is useful because it shows when a new control, detection feature, or policy option may appear before it is fully available.

In cyber security, roadmap entries help defenders plan for changes such as new phishing protections, identity checks, or collaboration safeguards like synthetic audio and video detection in Teams. They are also important for risk analysis: a listed feature is not the same as a finished capability, so organizations should avoid assuming exact behavior, coverage, or enforcement until release details are final. Attackers may monitor the same announcements to anticipate new defenses, while defenders use them to prepare testing, permissions review, training, and policy updates.
