Integration fit

how well a product works with existing security and business systems.

Integration fit is how well a security or business product connects with the systems already in use, such as identity providers, SIEMs, cloud platforms, ticketing tools, endpoint agents, and data pipelines. A tool with strong features but poor integration fit can create extra work, duplicate alerts, or blind spots because defenders must manually move data between systems or maintain custom connectors.

In cyber security, integration fit matters because attackers often move across multiple layers at once, and defenders need coordinated visibility to detect and respond quickly. Good integration fit lets a product share telemetry, enforce policy, and trigger workflows without disrupting operations. Poor fit can slow deployment, weaken logging, or leave permissions too broad. During evaluations, teams test whether the product supports existing APIs, data formats, auth methods, and operational workflows, not just whether it looks effective in a demo.
