Group Chat is a shared Copilot collaboration surface where more than one participant can interact with the assistant in the same workspace. Instead of a one-to-one chat, prompts, responses, and follow-up actions may be visible to everyone in the group, depending on the product’s sharing and permission model.
In cyber security, this matters because shared AI spaces expand the exposure boundary. Sensitive data typed by one user can be seen, copied, or reused by others, and an attacker who joins a legitimate group may be able to harvest context, business details, or internal guidance. Defenders should treat group AI spaces like any other shared collaboration tool: apply least privilege, verify membership, review retention and export settings, and avoid entering secrets, credentials, or regulated data unless the surface is approved for that use.
