Google Workspace is Google’s cloud productivity and identity platform. It combines email, file storage, calendars, chat, and administrative controls in one environment, so a compromise in one area can quickly affect others. Because user access, sharing permissions, and tenant administration are tightly linked, defenders must treat it as both a collaboration suite and an identity system.
In real attacks, Workspace is often targeted through stolen passwords, phishing, malicious OAuth app grants, mailbox forwarding rules, or session hijacking. An attacker who gains access may read mail, pivot into shared files, or change settings to maintain persistence without repeatedly logging in. For defense, administrators should check sign-in activity, audit logs, app permissions, and mail-routing rules, then contain the account and preserve evidence. In a Workspace breach, fast containment matters because email and identity workflows can spread the impact far beyond a single inbox.
