Go loader

A first-stage malicious program compiled in the Go language, often used for compact self-contained binaries.

A Go loader is a first-stage malicious program written in the Go language. Attackers like Go because it can produce compact, self-contained binaries that bundle much of their own runtime behavior. That makes the file easier to distribute and sometimes harder to classify with simple static checks, especially when the binary is packed, stripped, or compiled for Windows, Linux, or macOS.

In cyber attacks, a Go loader usually acts as the delivery step before the real payload runs. It may unpack code, fetch a second stage, perform anti-sandbox checks, or launch malware directly in memory. This matters to defenders because the loader can look harmless compared with the payload it enables. Security teams often need process trees, memory inspection, command-line telemetry, and network indicators to spot it. A Go loader is not dangerous by language alone, but it is useful for malware authors who want portability, speed, and fewer obvious disk artifacts.
