Game jam

a time-limited challenge to build a game around a theme.

A game jam is a time-limited challenge where teams or solo builders create a game around a fixed theme. The deadline is usually short, so participants must choose a small scope, build a clear core loop, and leave out extras that would slow delivery. The format is useful because it makes trade-offs visible: what can be finished, what must be simplified, and what has to remain reliable under pressure.

In cyber security, the same time-boxed discipline matters. Defenders use jam-style exercises to prototype tools, test incident-response workflows, and practice secure coding with limited resources. Attackers also work under pressure, often rushing to assemble proof-of-concept exploits, phishing kits, or other throwaway code before a campaign window closes. A game jam is not a security exercise by itself, but it illustrates a core security lesson: tight constraints can expose weak design, encourage clear priorities, and reward software that is understandable and maintainable.
