Foldable display

A screen designed to bend around a hinge while preserving touch, image, and state continuity.

A foldable display is a screen built to bend around a hinge while keeping touch input, image rendering, and device state continuous. Unlike a rigid panel, it must report whether the device is open, closed, or partially folded without confusing the operating system or apps.

In cyber security, that matters because every state transition expands the attack surface. If sensors, firmware, or UI logic disagree about the device’s posture, attackers may try to trigger lock-screen bugs, permission mistakes, or app crashes. Defenders test these transitions heavily, validate hinge and display inputs, and make sure authentication and secure UI paths remain consistent as the device changes shape. A foldable display is not inherently unsafe, but it demands stricter state handling than a conventional screen.
