A flowgraph is a connected graph used to represent how data, signals, or control moves through a system. Each node stands for a processing step, and each edge shows how information travels from one step to the next. In software-defined radio, flowgraphs describe a signal chain as reusable blocks, making it easier to see how input is transformed into output.
In cyber security, flowgraphs matter because they help analysts trace behavior. Defenders use them in static analysis, malware reverse engineering, and network modeling to follow data dependencies, execution paths, and packet flow. That makes hidden logic easier to spot, such as suspicious branches, loops, or unexpected routing. Attackers also rely on flowgraph-like models when designing payload pipelines or command-and-control workflows, so understanding the graph can reveal where a system can be monitored, interrupted, or hardened.
