A feasibility study is a structured assessment of whether a proposed system can work in practice before it is rolled out. In cybersecurity, it checks more than whether software installs successfully: it examines identity management, logging, access control, data handling, integrations, performance, and user workflows.
This matters because secure systems fail when they are technically possible but operationally brittle. A feasibility study can reveal whether a new platform preserves auditability, supports policy enforcement, and fits existing defenses without creating unsafe workarounds. In real deployments, such studies are used before migrations, vendor changes, cloud adoption, or replacement of critical collaboration tools, so security teams can spot integration gaps and risk early rather than after users are already dependent on the system.
