Exposed JavaScript files

Browser-delivered code that can sometimes reveal tokens, endpoints, or debug data.

Exposed JavaScript files are browser-delivered scripts that are publicly reachable on a website and can be downloaded or inspected by anyone. Because these files often contain application logic, configuration values, and references used by the frontend, they may accidentally reveal tokens, API endpoints, feature flags, internal service names, or debug output.

In cyber security, they matter because attackers routinely inspect client-side code to find secrets that developers did not intend to publish. A single hard-coded credential or hidden endpoint can lead to account takeover, data access, or further reconnaissance. Defenders should treat every shipped script as public, avoid embedding secrets in client-side code, and scan web assets for leaks before deployment. Minification or bundling does not protect sensitive data if the file is still accessible in the browser.
