Enterprise authentication is the process a business uses to verify that a user, device, or service is allowed onto its network. It usually combines identity checks, device trust, and policy decisions so access is granted only after the system confirms who or what is connecting.
This matters because Wi-Fi and remote access are often the front door to corporate systems. Strong enterprise authentication can use passwords, certificates, multi-factor authentication, device enrollment, or centralized identity services. Defenders rely on it to enforce segmentation, block unmanaged devices, and create audit logs. Attackers target it by stealing credentials, abusing weak onboarding flows, or impersonating trusted devices, because a successful login can open the path to email, internal apps, and sensitive data.
