Editorial boundary

The line that defines which topics a publication usually includes or excludes.

An editorial boundary is the line a publication draws around what it usually covers and what it leaves out. In a technical or security-focused channel, that boundary helps readers know whether the content is meant to be engineering advice, community news, analysis, or something else. Clear boundaries make a feed easier to trust because the audience can predict its purpose and judge unusual items in context.

In cyber security, editorial boundaries matter because attackers exploit confusion. Phishing pages, fake advisories, and impersonation campaigns often copy the style of a trusted source but break its usual scope or tone. Defenders use the same idea in reverse: security teams define what belongs in alerts, briefings, and incident updates so people can spot anomalies quickly. A boundary is not just a content rule; it is part of trust management.
