Display calibration

Settings that help a screen render color and brightness as expected.

Display calibration is the set of settings, profiles, and tuning data that tell a screen how to render color, brightness, gamma, and contrast as intended. It helps the panel look consistent across devices and keeps images, warnings, and interface elements readable under different lighting conditions.

In cyber security, calibration matters because the display is part of the trust boundary between software and the user. A bad update, buggy driver, or tampered firmware can shift colors or brightness enough to hide warning text, blur security prompts, or create visible artifacts that signal a faulty change. Defenders test calibration after updates, compare output against reference images, and use rollback plans when a patch alters the rendering path. Careful calibration helps ensure that what the system shows is what the user is meant to see.
