Deployers

Organizations that use an AI system in a real-world setting and may have disclosure duties of their own.

Deployers are organizations or operators that put an AI system into real-world use. They are not necessarily the model maker; they are the party running the system in a product, workflow, or service. In practice, a deployer may be a company using a chatbot for customer support, a newsroom using generative tools, or a platform integrating AI into a user-facing feature.

In cyber security, deployers matter because obligations do not end with the vendor. A deployer may need to show when AI was used, display user notices, preserve labels or metadata, and document any exception or human review. Those controls are important because synthetic content can be copied, reformatted, or stripped of markers as it moves through systems. For defenders, deployment governance becomes part of trust and safety: logging, provenance tracking, and review gates help prove what happened and reduce misuse. For attackers, weak deployment controls can hide AI-generated content or make disclosure claims hard to verify.
