A deepfake website is a fake or impersonated site built to look convincingly real at a casual glance. It may copy a legitimate brand’s logo, layout, wording, contact details, or even supporting pages such as FAQs and testimonials. In cyber security, the danger is not only the page itself but the false confidence it creates in users who rely on appearance as a trust signal.
These sites are common in phishing, investment fraud, credential theft, and impersonation campaigns. Generative AI can make them cheaper and faster to produce by generating polished text, images, and page structure at scale. Defenders look for mismatched domains, copied content, weak verification details, and poor linkage to official records. The safest response is to verify the organization through independent sources, not through the site’s own claims or search results alone.
