Deal flow is the stream of business opportunities moving through meetings, demos, follow-ups, and negotiations. In cybersecurity, it describes how vendors, buyers, investors, and partners advance a product, service, or funding opportunity from first contact to a decision. A healthy deal flow usually means there are enough qualified conversations to support sales, partnerships, or investment.
It matters in cyber security because attackers and defenders both use the same business channels. Defenders track deal flow to understand market demand, prioritize integrations, and spot procurement risks. Attackers may study conferences, sales pipelines, and vendor relationships to impersonate executives, target startups, or exploit rushed approvals in a social-engineering campaign. At events, strong deal flow can increase exposure to phishing, credential theft, and fake demos if people are moving quickly between meetings. In short, deal flow is not a technical control, but it shapes the business environment where security decisions are made.
