The WordPress Customizer is the live-preview interface used to test design and settings changes before they are published. It lets an administrator adjust themes, widgets, menus, and other presentation options while seeing the result immediately. Because it operates inside the admin workflow, it is more than a visual tool: it is a privileged control surface that can influence how site code is loaded and rendered.
In cyber security, the Customizer matters because attackers often target trusted admin features rather than the public website. If a crafted request or malicious theme path can reach the preview flow, the Customizer may become part of a chain that loads inactive theme code or exposes a server-side execution path. Defenders should treat preview and installation features as sensitive, keep WordPress and themes patched, remove unused themes, and monitor theme directories for unexpected changes.
