Corrective actions

specific follow-up tasks created to close gaps found during the review.

Corrective actions are specific follow-up tasks created after a security review to close gaps that were found. They turn observations into work, such as tightening access controls, updating detection rules, improving logging, fixing escalation paths, or revising procedures and training.

In cyber security, corrective actions matter because a review that produces only notes or recommendations does not reduce risk by itself. A real defense improvement cycle needs ownership, deadlines, and verification so teams can confirm the gap was actually closed. This is especially important after incidents, when the same weakness could be reused in a later attack if nothing changes.

In practice, corrective actions appear in post-incident reviews, audits, and risk assessments. Defenders track them like project tasks, often with status, assignee, and completion evidence. Attackers benefit when these tasks are delayed or ignored; defenders benefit when they are traced to completion and tested.
