Context framing is the way surrounding details—such as season, theme, wording, or presentation—influence how people interpret an object, message, or event. The same item may seem humorous, threatening, ordinary, or credible depending on how it is introduced.
In cyber security, framing matters because attackers use it to make malicious content feel trustworthy or urgent. A phishing email may imitate a familiar service or invoke a deadline, while a fake security alert can present malware as a protective tool. Defenders should assess the underlying request, sender, and technical indicators rather than relying on tone or branding alone. Context can guide interpretation, but it does not prove that a claim is genuine.
