Connector path

the route a signal or cartridge follows between the device and its interface.

A connector path is the physical route a signal, cartridge, or other module takes between a device and its interface. In a Game Boy-style repair setup, that includes the cartridge slot contacts, traces, solder joints, and any adapter or test fixture in between. If that path is dirty, worn, misaligned, or damaged, the device may fail to read the cartridge even when the cartridge itself is fine.

This matters in cyber security and hardware assurance because many failures are not caused by software at all, but by unreliable connections that change what the system can see or trust. A weak connector path can produce intermittent faults, false diagnostics, or missed test results. Technicians use known-good cartridges and repeatable tests to isolate the path, confirm signal integrity, and separate interface problems from board-level faults.
