Code-generation library

A tool that automatically creates source code or client wrappers from a specification such as OpenAPI.

A code-generation library is a developer tool that creates source code, client wrappers, or API bindings from a specification such as OpenAPI. Instead of writing repetitive boilerplate by hand, teams use it to produce consistent code for frameworks like TanStack Query, SDKs, and service clients.

In cyber security, these libraries matter because they often run inside high-trust environments: developer laptops, build servers, CI/CD jobs, and release pipelines. If a malicious update lands in a trusted generator, the attacker may gain access to tokens, signing keys, cloud credentials, or package-registry secrets present on that machine. Defenders treat them like privileged tooling: pin versions, verify lockfiles, restrict CI permissions, review dependencies, and watch for unusual network or file activity during code generation.
