Cloud AI infrastructure is the set of cloud-hosted components that run an AI service, including model endpoints, API keys, authentication systems, storage, and supporting orchestration tools. It is the operational backbone behind hosted inference and agent platforms, where applications send requests to remote models instead of running them locally.
It matters because this infrastructure concentrates high-value secrets and control points. If an attacker steals credentials, API keys, or root access, they may be able to query models, alter prompts, exfiltrate data, or shut down services. In real attacks, defenders treat cloud AI infrastructure as part of the broader cloud control plane: they monitor for unusual API use, enforce least privilege, rotate secrets, restrict network access, and log access to model endpoints. Protecting these assets helps prevent both direct compromise and abuse of legitimate AI services.
