Clone mode

A safer workspace mode that keeps the host-side copy read-only and reduces writable exposure.

Clone mode is a safer workspace setting that copies host content into a sandbox while keeping the host-side source read-only. Instead of giving the guest direct writable access to the live workspace, it works on a cloned view, which reduces the chance that a bug, race, or path-confusion flaw can alter host files.

In cyber security, this matters because many sandbox escapes start at the boundary between guest and host: shared filesystems, symlinks, and socket relays. Clone mode narrows that boundary by limiting write paths and making it harder for malicious code to abuse mount handling or overwrite trusted data. Defenders use it as a fallback when immediate patching is not possible, especially for untrusted workloads, build jobs, and agent tooling that needs file access but not full host control.
