A bundled offer is a package that combines a core service with optional extras. In cyber security, the term matters because bundled software or services can hide additional components behind a single purchase, download, or signup flow. Those extras may be useful, but they can also increase risk if they include adware, tracking tools, browser extensions, trialware, or permissions that users did not expect.
Attackers often abuse bundling to make unwanted software look legitimate, especially during install screens with preselected checkboxes or vague consent text. Defenders look for clear separation between the main product and add-ons, verify default settings, and review what each component can access. In enterprise environments, bundled plans can also affect licensing, identity, and data exposure if extra features are enabled by default. Careful review of the bundle helps prevent confusion, unwanted persistence, and unnecessary attack surface.
