Blink is Chromium’s rendering engine. It parses and lays out web content, turning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript into the interactive pages users see in Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers. Because it sits on the path between untrusted web content and the browser UI, Blink is one of the most security-sensitive parts of the browser stack.
Security flaws in Blink matter because a malicious page can trigger buggy parsing, rendering, or script-handling code simply by being loaded. That makes Blink a common target for exploit development, especially in attacks that rely on crafted web content rather than downloads or installed malware. Defenders reduce this risk by patching Chromium quickly, using browser sandboxing and site isolation, and treating rendering-engine updates as high priority even when no active exploitation is reported.
