Asset Intelligence

Enriched device context used to identify, classify, and prioritize assets.

Asset intelligence is enriched device context used to identify, classify, and prioritize assets in a network. It goes beyond a simple inventory by adding details such as device type, owner, function, criticality, firmware, protocol use, and relationships to other systems. In operational technology and other complex environments, that context helps defenders understand not just that an asset exists, but what role it plays and how sensitive it is.

In cyber security, asset intelligence matters because access control, patching, monitoring, and incident response all depend on knowing what is on the network. Defenders use it to apply least-privilege access, flag unusual connections to critical devices, and prioritize the most exposed or important systems. Attackers also benefit when asset context is missing; poor visibility makes it easier to hide rogue devices, target legacy equipment, or exploit forgotten systems. Strong asset intelligence reduces blind spots, but only if the data is current and accurate.
