AI training is the process of using data to teach a machine learning model patterns it can later recognize or predict. The data may include text, images, audio, sensor logs, or user interactions, and the training process adjusts model parameters so the system performs better on a task.
In cyber security, AI training matters because the training pipeline is a sensitive control point. If attackers can insert poisoned data, they may bias a model or reduce its accuracy. If training data is collected without clear boundaries, it can also expose personal data, secrets, or proprietary information. Defenders protect training systems with data minimization, access controls, dataset validation, provenance checks, and audit logs. In consumer devices, training settings and opt-outs are important because they determine whether user-generated data can be reused to improve the model.
