An AI orchestration layer is a workflow that uses an AI tool to coordinate tasks instead of performing one task at a time. In cyber security, it can help an operator script actions, triage findings, chain commands, or decide the next step in a sequence. The AI is not necessarily the attacker’s “hands”; it may act as a planner or coordinator around familiar tools.
This matters because orchestration can make intrusion work faster and more consistent. Attackers can use it to reduce manual effort during reconnaissance, exploitation, or post-exploitation, while defenders can use similar workflows to automate alert triage, enrich telemetry, and standardize response playbooks. In real attacks, the key risk is speed: routine steps that once took human attention can be chained together quickly, increasing the pace of compromise. Defenders should monitor for unusual automation, scripted activity, and AI-generated operational prompts that connect separate stages of an attack.
