In cyber security, their impact is less about magic code and more about scale. They lower the cost of creating software, which can lead to shadow IT, weak ownership, and systems that escape normal review, inventory, and retirement processes. Attackers can also use the same tools to speed up phishing pages, automation scripts, or exploit variants. Defenders use them for rapid prototyping, but still need code review, least privilege, dependency scanning, and clear asset ownership. The key risk is not that AI-generated code is automatically unsafe; it is that organizations may deploy more software than their controls can track.
